Allows drivers to carry electronic registration on a device in their possession as an alternative to physical registration cards while operating vehicles on North Dakota highways.

Electronic registration must be designed so drivers do not need to relinquish possession of the device to present registration or allow officers to access verification systems to confirm validity.

Upon request by peace officers or highway patrol officers, drivers may produce either a physical registration card or electronic registration provided by the department.

A $20 fee applies for violations of registration carrying requirements, but citations can be dismissed if the driver produces a valid registration card within 14 days after being cited.
