HB 1155 Summary

• Prohibits the state, political subdivisions, and higher education institutions from adopting policies that limit or prevent individuals from communicating or cooperating with federal agencies to verify or report immigration status.

• Prohibits granting noncitizens unlawfully present in the United States the right to lawful presence or status within the state, political subdivisions, or higher education institutions.

• Declares any policy, order, or ordinance adopted in violation of these provisions void.

• Applies to agents and employees of state entities, political subdivisions, and institutions under the state board of higher education's supervision.

• Passed House 80-11 and Senate 40-4 in the 68th Legislative Assembly in 2023.
