Schools must expressly designate interscholastic or intramural athletic teams as "males," "men," or "boys"; "females," "women," or "girls"; or "coed" or "mixed" based on the sex of intended participants.

Athletic teams designated for females, women, or girls may not be open to students of the male sex.

Government entities, licensing organizations, and athletic associations are prohibited from investigating, entertaining complaints, or taking adverse action against schools for maintaining separate athletic teams for female students.

Students deprived of athletic opportunities or suffering direct or indirect harm from school violations may sue for injunctive relief, damages, and attorney's fees, with a two-year statute of limitations.

Schools may sue government entities, licensing organizations, or athletic associations for direct or indirect harm resulting from violations of this chapter; prevailing parties are entitled to monetary damages including psychological and emotional harm, reasonable attorney's fees, and costs.
