• Allows school districts and nonpublic schools to adopt policies enabling students in grades 6-12 to earn course credit through educational opportunities with sponsoring entities, including work-based learning, apprenticeships, internships, and industry certifications.

• Requires school district and nonpublic school boards to establish policies with criteria for submission, approval, and evaluation of proposals, as well as sponsoring entity eligibility and accountability standards.

• Mandates that approved proposals must identify a licensed teacher of record employed by the school and must be submitted to the superintendent of public instruction for approval within 90 days of submission.

• Requires participating schools to provide evaluation data to the superintendent of public instruction as requested and allows the superintendent to revoke program approval if schools or sponsoring entities fail to comply with terms or requirements.

• Requires the superintendent of public instruction to provide biennial reports to legislative management regarding proposals approved under the program.
