Adds state-employed firefighters to the law enforcement retirement plan within the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), granting them the same retirement benefits and contribution requirements as peace officers employed by the state

State-employed firefighters will contribute 6% of monthly salary and qualify for normal retirement at age 55 with three years of eligible employment, or when age plus years of service equals 85

Early retirement for state firefighters is available at age 50 with at least three years of eligible employment, with actuarially reduced benefits

Removes separate benefit calculation provisions for state peace officers (other than Bureau of Criminal Investigation officers), consolidating their treatment under general retirement benefit formulas

Passed unanimously in both chambers (House 93-0, Senate 47-0) during the 69th Legislative Assembly
