Legislative management must study jails and regional correctional centers during the 2025-26 interim, examining current and projected infrastructure needs, costs and benefits of regional facilities, impacts of deferred admission, and prioritization of inmates sentenced to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Study requires input from representatives of counties with populations of 7,500 or more, counties with fewer than 7,500 residents, local law enforcement, the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Office of Management and Budget, and the Attorney General.

Findings, recommendations, and any required implementing legislation must be reported to the 70th Legislative Assembly.
