Department of Health and Human Services must collaborate with the Superintendent of Public Instruction to create a customizable cardiac emergency response plan template based on American Heart Association guidelines

Beginning with the 2027-28 school year, all public and nonpublic schools must develop cardiac emergency response plans covering school grounds and athletic venues

Schools must place automated external defibrillators (AEDs) on school grounds with appropriate signage and conduct routine maintenance

Required plan elements include training for coaches, school nurses, and athletic trainers, coordination with local EMS providers, and annual review by district crisis management teams

Schools, board members, administrators, teachers, employees, and crisis team members receive immunity from liability for injuries resulting from implementing the cardiac emergency response plan
