Administrative rules automatically expire on January 1st ten years after their effective date, requiring periodic review to remain in effect.

Rules effective before January 1, 2026 will have their expiration dates determined by the governor rather than the automatic 10-year sunset.

The governor must review each rule before expiration and either extend it for another 10 years or declare it expired, requiring the agency to amend or repeal it within one year.

The governor must maintain and publish a table of all rules and their expiration dates, and notify agencies at least one year before a rule expires.

The governor may exempt specific rules from expiration requirements and grant extensions to agencies or commissions.
