Covered platforms face $10,000 in fines per day of violation and civil liability if they fail to verify users are 18+ or fail to prevent minor access to the material

Age verification systems must anonymize user identity, cannot retain identifying information after access is granted, and cannot create records of online activity

Parents/guardians of minors who gained access and individuals whose data was improperly retained may sue for injunctions, compensatory and exemplary damages, and attorney fees

Exemptions apply to bona fide news organizations and internet service providers, search engines, cloud services, and app stores that merely provide access without creating the content
