Department of Health and Human Services, in consultation with the EMS advisory council, will distribute state financial assistance to eligible ambulance service operations during the 2025-2027 biennium using a formula based on average runs and costs

Grant calculations use a cost of $2,023 per run, with a minimum reasonable budget of $125,000 and a maximum grant of $225,000 per operation after deductions for estimated reimbursements ($795 per run) and local property tax capacity (5 mills)

Ambulance operations with more than 800 runs per year are ineligible for funding; operations must receive at least 50% of their previous year's grant amount through June 30, 2027

Response areas acquired after April 1, 2024 due to adjacent ambulance service closures are excluded from grant calculations
