Amends North Dakota law on mandatory stopping requirements at railroad grade crossings for buses, school buses, and vehicles carrying hazardous materials (explosives, poison, flammable substances, radioactive materials, etc.)

Removes the restriction that "exempt" or "out-of-service" crossing designations can only be used where track has been abandoned or discontinued, giving the director broader authority to designate such crossings

Requires the director to notify road authorities and railway companies when crossings are designated as out-of-service, with road authorities responsible for erecting appropriate signage

Passed unanimously in the Senate (47-0) and House (93-0) during the 69th Legislative Assembly session beginning January 7, 2025
