Superintendent of public instruction must develop and publish cardiac arrest information sheets describing warning signs (shortness of breath, fainting, chest pains, dizziness, racing heart, extreme fatigue) and verification forms for students and parents to sign

Students and parents must sign and return the verification form each school year before the student can participate in any athletic activity, including interscholastic sports, cheerleading, student-run club sports, and practices

Coaches must complete a superintendent-approved cardiac arrest training course annually and hold informational meetings before each athletic season on sudden cardiac arrest symptoms and warning signs

Coaches may remove students exhibiting cardiac arrest symptoms from athletic activities and must attempt to notify parents when doing so

Students removed due to cardiac arrest concerns cannot return to athletic participation until they receive written medical clearance from a licensed physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner
