Redefines marriage in North Dakota law from "one man and one woman" to "two individuals," and redefines spouse from "a person of the opposite sex" to "one of two individuals married to each other"

Removes the restriction that foreign marriages are only recognized if between "one man and one woman as husband and wife," allowing recognition of all marriages valid in the state or country where contracted

Replaces gendered terminology ("husband and wife," "husband or wife") with gender-neutral language ("two individuals married to each other," "spouse," "parties to a marriage") throughout approximately 35 sections of the North Dakota Century Code

Updates provisions covering property rights, divorce, adoption, family leave, homestead protections, fishing licenses, tax filing status, and motor vehicle transfers to use gender-neutral spousal language
