Legislative management must conduct a study during the 2025-26 interim on North Dakota's fire service operational and response needs, including creation of regional response teams and coordination of existing state resources

Study must evaluate restructuring fiscal support for state and local fire services to reduce dependency on local property tax

Examination required of staffing abilities, cross-training, minimum training requirements, firefighting benefits, equipment needs, and wildland-urban interface fire prevention codes

Consultation required with the state fire marshal, North Dakota Firefighter's Association, Forest Service, Department of Emergency Services, Fire Chief's Association, and Department of Career and Technical Education; a consultant may be contracted

Findings and recommendations, including any necessary legislation, must be reported to the 70th Legislative Assembly; passed Senate 46-0 and House 90-1
