Amends House Bill 1160 to require school districts to adopt policies mandating personal electronic devices be silenced/turned off and stowed away (rather than locked) during instructional time, from school start to dismissal

Removes the requirement for specific storage methods like lockable pouches or phone lockers, giving schools more flexibility in how devices are secured

Exempts students who need devices for medical reasons (as determined by a licensed provider) or as required by an IEP, Section 504 plan, or other accommodation plan under state or federal law

Requires school districts to annually collect data measuring the policy's impact on student behavior, mental health, disciplinary incidents, attendance, and academic performance

Passed the Senate 45-2 and House 73-17; requires districts to communicate policies to students, parents, and caregivers and publish them in handbooks
