Removes Hastings Regional Center and Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center-Geneva from the official list of state institutions under Department of Health and Human Services supervision

Changes Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center-Kearney from a boys-only facility to a single-sex facility that may treat either boys or girls, but not both simultaneously

Eliminates the statutory requirement that Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center-Geneva be used exclusively for girls' treatment

Allows temporary co-ed use of youth rehabilitation and treatment centers for up to seven days during emergencies (defined as public health emergencies, fires, floods, tornadoes, natural disasters, or facility damage—but not inadequate staffing)

Amends section 83-107.01 of the Reissue Revised Statutes of Nebraska; introduced by Senator Hansen on January 13, 2026
