Electric suppliers are prohibited from retiring, shutting down, ceasing operation of, or substantially altering any electric generation facility or privately developed renewable energy generation facility if they have customers waiting for electric service

Exceptions to the prohibition include: facility retirement mandated by federal or state law, mechanical safety concerns, damage beyond repair from natural disaster, or continued operation being uneconomical

Before any retirement, shutdown, cessation, or alteration can occur, the electric supplier's governing body must pass a resolution identifying at least one of the permitted reasons

Amends section 70-1001.01 of the Revised Statutes Supplement, 2025, relating to Nebraska Power Review Board definitions and electricity regulation
