Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services must develop suicide awareness and prevention curriculum in consultation with the Nebraska State Suicide Prevention Coalition and the Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska, incorporating evidence-based practices for identifying warning signs and providing trauma-informed care.

All DHHS child welfare staff who provide direct services to or interact with children and families must complete annual suicide awareness and prevention training before any independent contact with youth and families.

Foster care providers must complete suicide awareness and prevention training for both initial licensure and license renewal under sections 71-1901 to 71-1906.01.

Child-placing agency employees must complete standardized suicide awareness and prevention training before independent contact with youth and families, though agencies may use their own curriculum if it meets the state baseline requirements.
