Eligible aliens (individuals authorized for employment under federal regulations) may receive law enforcement officer training and certification in Nebraska, expanding eligibility beyond U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents

Eligible aliens employed as or training to become law enforcement officers are entitled to all employment-related public benefits, including retirement benefits under the County Employees, State Patrol, Police Officers, and State Employees Retirement Acts, plus unemployment benefits and deferred compensation

Family members and dependents of eligible alien law enforcement officers may access the same public benefits available to dependents of other law enforcement officers, regardless of the family members' own immigration status

The Legislature enacts these provisions under 8 U.S.C. 1621(d), which allows states to provide public benefits to non-qualified aliens through affirmative state law

Amends multiple Nebraska statutes covering retirement systems, unemployment benefits, and law enforcement training to add eligible alien law enforcement officers as a category alongside U.S. citizens and lawfully present individuals
