Contracts over $250,000 for road, bridge, and highway construction must be advertised through weekly newspaper publication for three consecutive weeks and posted on the Department of Transportation's official website at least 20 days before bid opening

Contracts of $250,000 or less may use simplified bidding procedures, requiring bids from at least three potential bidders with award possible upon receiving one responsive bid

The $250,000 threshold may be adjusted annually on October 1 based on the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers

Legislative consent is now required for Department of Transportation building construction projects exceeding the adjusted dollar amount established in section 81-1114.01, replacing the previous fixed threshold of $100,000

Notice requirements are deemed satisfied if the department's website posting is maintained for 20 days, even if newspaper publication requirements are not fully met due to publisher issues
