School districts must develop and adopt cardiac emergency response plans beginning in school year 2026-27, including establishing response teams, placing automated external defibrillators (AEDs) on school grounds and at athletic venues, and ensuring AEDs can be retrieved and placed on a cardiac arrest victim in under three minutes

The state school security director must create a cardiac emergency response plan template incorporating American Heart Association guidelines, covering team establishment, personnel training in CPR and AED use, annual drills, and coordination with local emergency medical services

The State Department of Education must provide training for cardiac emergency response team members at public and nonpublic schools

A grant program funded by the Medicaid Managed Care Excess Profit Fund will provide up to $1.5 million to school districts for cardiac emergency response plan implementation, with priority given to Title I schools
