Extends the return-to-work waiting period from 120 days to 180 days for retired school employees who want to return to work for an employer participating in the School Employees Retirement System or Class V School Employees Retirement System

Removes provisions that previously allowed retired members to perform intermittent volunteer or substitute work (up to 8 days per month) during the waiting period without losing their termination status

Clarifies that termination of employment occurs on the date of a bona fide separation from service, with the separation date being the end of the contractual agreement or as determined by the employer if no contract exists

Authorizes employers to adopt policies limiting or denying separated employees from working as volunteers or substitutes within 180 days after separation from service

Amends sections 79-902, 79-920, 79-930, 79-978, and 79-992 of Nebraska statutes to implement these changes across both the School Employees Retirement Act and Class V School Employees Retirement Act
