Nebraska Legislature honors James Earl "Jimmy" Carter, Jr., the 39th President of the United States, who passed away on December 29, 2024, at age 100

Carter graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1946 with distinction and was honorably discharged as a lieutenant

Established the Carter Center, a nonprofit organization that has helped improve lives in more than 80 countries

Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for efforts toward peaceful solutions to international conflicts, advancing democracy and human rights, and promoting economic and social development

Resolution directs that a copy be sent to the Carter family along with the Legislature's official condolences
