Erwin H. Schopp of Plymouth, Nebraska served in Headquarters Battery, 59th Coastal Artillery Regiment during the Japanese invasion of the Philippine Islands in December 1941

Schopp was captured and held as a prisoner of war, dying on January 1, 1943 at Cabanatuan POW camp where he was buried in Common Grave 836

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency accounted for Schopp's remains on January 24, 2025

The Nebraska Legislature formally thanks Schopp for his service to the United States and directs a copy of the resolution be sent to his family
