Mike Yanney was born in 1933 in Kearney, Nebraska, graduated from Kearney State College, served in the U.S. Army, and founded America First Companies (now Burlington Capital) in 1984

Received the Horatio Alger Award in 2005 and the University of Nebraska at Kearney's Ron and Carol Cope Cornerstone of Excellence Award in May 2024

Served as volunteer chairman of Omaha's Riverfront Development Project, supported the University of Nebraska Medical Center, helped develop E.K. and Mary Yanney Heritage Park in Kearney, and co-founded Partnership 4 Kids mentoring and scholarship program in 1986

Directs that a copy of the resolution be sent to the Yanney family
