County attorneys may appoint investigators with statewide law enforcement authority and peace officer status, subject to county appropriations and county commissioner approval

Appointed investigators must be certified or eligible for certification as police officers under RSA 106-L:5, V, and will be removed if they fail to achieve certification or are decertified

Operational control over appointed investigators rests solely with the county attorney to whom they report

County attorneys retain the ability to appoint non-certified investigators who do not possess law enforcement powers

Effective 60 days after passage
