County sheriffs and deputies would have mandatory oversight over all federal law enforcement actions within their counties, including a required non-participating presence at the service of all federal warrants and federal arrests

Federal law enforcement agencies must provide advance notice to county sheriffs before taking any actions within the county

Sheriffs may declare federal law enforcement actions unauthorized and unlawful—and subject to termination by the sheriff—if prior notice was not provided, reasonable lawful justification was not given, or best practices for minimizing deadly force are not observed

The bill would take effect 60 days after passage

Fiscal impact includes indeterminable increases in county expenditures starting FY 2026 due to potential overtime costs and possible litigation, as counties cannot compel federal agencies to share information
