Limits the maximum duration of term alimony to 8 years, regardless of marriage length, unless parties agree otherwise or the court finds justice requires an adjustment

Maintains the existing rule that term alimony cannot exceed 50 percent of the length of the marriage, now with the added 8-year cap

Preserves court discretion to adjust the beginning or ending date used to measure marriage length when justice requires

Term alimony continues to automatically end upon remarriage of the payee unless the parties' agreement provides otherwise

Effective date of January 1, 2027
