Prohibits landlords and their agents from charging application fees to individuals applying for residential rental agreements

Does not apply to commercial or nonresidential property rentals, which may still charge application fees

Requires landlords to accept any unexpired government-issued ID, individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN), or social security number for conducting background or credit checks

Prohibits landlords from requiring a social security number to complete a rental application or refusing applications due to lack of a social security number

Takes effect 60 days after passage
