Limits by-right accessory dwelling unit (ADU) allowances within protected shoreland areas, requiring municipalities to approve attached ADUs either as a matter of right, by conditional use permit, or by special exception in these zones

Gives municipalities discretion to permit or prohibit detached ADUs within the protected shoreland district, rather than requiring them as in other areas

Requires detached ADUs outside protected shoreland to comply with existing ADU regulations under RSA 674:72

Maintains existing statewide requirements that municipalities allow one ADU in all single-family zoning districts without imposing additional lot size, setback, or design requirements beyond those for single-family homes

Takes effect July 1, 2026
