Prohibits courts from ordering term alimony in contested divorce, legal separation, or annulment cases where the marriage lasted 6 years or less

Prohibits courts from ordering reimbursement alimony for marriages that existed for 6 years or less

Reimbursement alimony compensates a spouse for economic or non-economic contributions to the other spouse's financial resources, including support of education, job training, or investment of time or money

Parties may still agree to alimony arrangements voluntarily regardless of marriage length; the prohibition applies only to contested court-ordered alimony

Effective date: January 1, 2027
