Bans nine specific FDA-recognized color additives: FD&C Blue No. 1, Blue No. 2, Green No. 3, Red No. 3, Red No. 40, Yellow No. 5, Yellow No. 6, Citrus Red No. 2, and Orange B

Legislative findings cite studies suggesting food dyes may be harmful to children and note that some brands already produce the same products without these dyes in other countries

Named the "Protect Our Kids' Food Act" and applies to both regular school meals and competitive foods sold on school grounds
