New Jersey would join the Dentist and Dental Hygienist Compact, allowing dentists and dental hygienists licensed in participating states to practice across state lines through a "compact privilege" without obtaining separate licenses in each state

Licensees must hold an unrestricted license, pass national board examinations, graduate from accredited programs, complete a clinical assessment, and meet any state-specific jurisprudence requirements to qualify for the compact privilege

The compact creates a joint interstate commission with one commissioner per participating state to administer the agreement, maintain a shared data system of licensee information, and promulgate rules governing compact operations

Active military members and their spouses are exempt from commission fees for obtaining a compact privilege, with remote states permitted to reduce or waive their fees as well

The compact becomes effective when seven states enact it, and participating states may terminate a state's participation for noncompliance after providing notice and opportunity to cure defaults
