Requires the Attorney General, Executive Director of the Office of Public Integrity and Accountability, or a designee to notify law enforcement officers' collective bargaining units before publicly releasing officer identities in cases involving deaths during encounters with police or while in custody

Notification must also occur before releasing body worn camera footage, mobile video recordings, incident reports, or any other investigation-related information to the public

Applies specifically to cases where a person dies during a law enforcement encounter or while in custody, which trigger Attorney General oversight of the investigation

The new notification requirement supersedes any existing Attorney General directives, guidelines, or policies on the matter

Amends P.L.2019, c.1 (C.52:17B-107.1), which currently mandates public disclosure of investigating and arresting officers' identities in these cases
