Commissioner of Education must establish a public awareness campaign about the dangers of social media use to minors, targeting parents and guardians with information on safe social media practices

Department of Education, in consultation with the Commissioner of Health, must implement the campaign within 180 days through statewide newspapers, radio, public service announcements, social media, and television ads

Campaign will incorporate findings from the U.S. Surgeon General's May 2023 advisory, which found 95% of teens ages 13-17 use social media and those spending more than 3 hours daily face double the risk of depression and anxiety symptoms

$500,000 appropriated from the General Fund to the Department of Education for campaign development and implementation

Commissioner of Education must report to the Governor and Legislature on campaign activities and accomplishments within 24 months of the act's effective date
