Institutions of higher education must test all drinking water outlets for lead within 90 days of the act's effective date and at least annually thereafter, using DEP-certified laboratories

Test results must be submitted to the Secretary of Higher Education and Commissioner of Environmental Protection within 30 days, posted on the institution's website, and communicated to students, faculty, and staff

Drinking water outlets with elevated lead levels must be immediately closed and alternate water supplies provided until lead levels meet EPA or DEP standards (whichever is stricter)

Institutions must identify all buildings containing lead pipes, lead solder, or lead-containing fixtures and install certified water filters or treatment devices on all drinking water outlets in those buildings

Water filters and treatment devices must be maintained and replaced according to manufacturer recommendations to ensure continued functionality
