Recording artist exclusive service contracts cannot include option periods extending more than six months after either the delivery obligation is satisfied or the music product is commercially released; artists may terminate if options are not exercised within this timeframe

Actor contracts for episodic series cannot extend beyond 12 months from contract delivery or commencement of pilot/first episode performance, with options for subsequent seasons requiring exercise and completion within 12 months of the prior season

Personal service contracts cannot be enforced against any employee beyond seven years from when service began, though voluntary continuation allows the contract to serve as a presumptive measure of compensation

These protections cannot be waived through individual negotiation, collective bargaining, or any other agreement, and contract provisions attempting to circumvent these rules are void

Provisions apply retroactively to all unexercised option periods after January 1, 2022, regardless of when the original contract began
