Allows an "interested person" to access a deceased person's safe-deposit box to search for original wills, codicils, or burial documents by presenting a death certificate and sworn affidavit

Defines "interested person" as anyone with prior access as a deputy, an executor named in the will, the spouse, adult descendants, parents, or siblings of the deceased; may also include others if none of these are available

Requires the lessor to remove any will or codicil found and deliver it by certified or registered mail to the Surrogate of the county where the deceased resided or where the box is located

Prohibits box opening if letters of administration or testamentary have been issued, if the box was previously opened under this procedure, if there is an objection, or if the lessee's key or combination is unavailable

Takes effect 180 days after enactment and applies to decedents dying on or after the effective date
