Licensed health care professionals who provide uncompensated care at licensed health care facilities or nonprofit free-standing clinics are granted civil immunity from liability for personal injuries resulting from that care

The immunity does not apply to acts or omissions proven by clear and convincing evidence to result from gross negligence or willful or wanton misconduct

Covered professionals include physicians, nurses, dentists, physician assistants, psychologists, pharmacists, chiropractors, physical therapists, and other practitioners licensed under Title 45 or Title 52 of the Revised Statutes

Health care professionals must inform patients of their immunity status before providing any uncompensated care or treatment

The law takes effect 60 days after enactment and applies only to care rendered after the effective date
