Commissioner of Human Services must apply for federal Medicaid State plan amendments or waivers to secure federal funding for establishing additional graduate medical education slots focused on behavioral health care

Upon federal approval, the Commissioner of Human Services and Secretary of Higher Education must create a process for graduate medical education programs to request Medicaid funds for new behavioral health-focused training positions

Both new and existing graduate medical education programs would be eligible to apply for funding to expand behavioral health training capacity

The bill takes effect immediately upon enactment
