Advanced practice nurses certified in New Jersey who provide mental health care services in state-designated underserved areas can receive tuition reimbursement through the Higher Education Student Assistance Authority

Participants receive 25% reimbursement of their lowest-year tuition expenses for each year of full-time mental health care service, up to 100% reimbursement for four years of service

Eligibility requires New Jersey residency, APN certification, specialized mental health training, and application within one year of certification

Participants must charge customary rates but allow reduced or no-cost care for patients unable to pay, and cannot discriminate based on ability to pay or payment source

The Commissioner of Health designates underserved areas based on health status criteria and economic indicators, including population access to mental health services
