Law enforcement agencies must submit sexual assault evidence to the State Police Central Laboratory or approved laboratory within 10 business days of receipt

Laboratories must analyze submitted sexual assault evidence within six months of receipt, if sufficient staffing and resources are available

Law enforcement agencies must report their inventory of unsubmitted sexual assault evidence kits to the Superintendent of State Police within 45 days, and arrangements must be made within 180 days to submit all backlogged cases

Law enforcement officers or employees who knowingly violate the 10-business-day submission requirement face civil penalties of $1,000 for a first violation, $2,500 for a second, and $5,000 for subsequent violations

Agencies must report any violations to the Superintendent within five days of discovery, including the nature of the violation and names of involved personnel
