Mandates health insurance coverage for additional orthotic and prosthetic appliances when a physician determines they are necessary for physical and recreational activities, including running, bicycling, swimming, climbing, skiing, snowboarding, and team/individual sports

Expands the list of providers from whom covered persons can obtain orthotic and prosthetic appliances to include licensed podiatrists, in addition to licensed orthotists, prosthetists, and certified pedorthists

Applies to all major types of health insurance in New Jersey, including hospital service corporations, medical service corporations, health service corporations, individual and group policies, HMOs, and State Health Benefits Commission contracts

Requires reimbursement for orthotic and prosthetic appliances at the federal Medicare reimbursement rate

Takes effect 90 days after enactment and applies to policies issued or renewed after the effective date
