Licensed or certified social workers may earn up to four continuing education credits per renewal period by volunteering as poll workers during State primary or general elections

Two credits are awarded for each election day served, with a maximum of four credits available per renewal period (covering both a primary and general election)

Poll worker volunteers must maintain proof of service through an assignment letter issued by the county or another method approved by the State Board of Social Work Examiners

Volunteering as a poll worker is optional and serves as one method to fulfill existing continuing education requirements, not an additional mandate

The bill amends existing law that already requires social workers to complete at least one credit of continuing education on prescription opioid drugs, including risks and signs of abuse
