Expands New Jersey's assault firearm definition to include semiautomatic rifles with detachable magazines that have one military-style feature (reduced from two), such as folding/telescoping stocks, pistol grips, thumbhole stocks, bayonet mounts, flash suppressors, or grenade launchers

Adds semiautomatic shotguns with any one of the following features to the banned list: folding/telescoping stock, thumbhole stock, second handgrip, fixed magazine over six rounds, or ability to accept detachable magazines

Bans semiautomatic pistols with detachable magazines that have one military-style feature, including folding stocks, thumbhole stocks, threaded barrels, barrel shrouds, weight over 50 ounces when unloaded, or capacity to accept magazines outside the pistol grip

Codifies existing State Police regulations defining "substantially identical" firearms while expanding the criteria that qualify a weapon as an assault firearm

Takes effect immediately upon enactment
