NJ FamilyCare (Medicaid) must reimburse licensed clinical pharmacists for comprehensive medication management (CMM) services provided to medically complex pediatric patients

CMM services include comprehensive medication reviews, development of patient-specific medication action plans, ongoing monitoring of adherence, and follow-up consultations to ensure medication safety and efficacy

Clinical pharmacists providing CMM services must complete a clinical residency or Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification and meet educational/training requirements established by the Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services and the Board of Pharmacy

Licensed clinical pharmacists providing CMM services are exempt from the requirement to enter into a written collaborative agreement with a physician

The Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services must establish value-based reimbursement contracts with clinical pharmacists and create a quality assurance program to monitor outcomes of CMM services
