Requires the Departments of Health and Environmental Protection to jointly identify and develop best practices for medical waste management that promote public health and environmental stewardship

Mandates all licensed hospitals and medical offices develop written medical waste management plans based on the state-developed best practices

Plans must include guidelines for rational use of personal protective equipment, effective waste sorting methods with clear visuals and signage, and instructions for accurately identifying and sorting waste at the point of generation

Hospitals and medical offices must provide employee training on plan implementation when necessary for compliance

Takes effect 180 days after enactment
