Public schools serving grades 7-12 that issue student identification cards must print the telephone number for mental health and suicide crisis resources on the back, as determined by the Commissioner of Human Services in consultation with the Commissioner of Education

Institutions of higher education that issue student identification cards must also print mental health and suicide crisis resource telephone numbers on the back of the cards

Schools and colleges may additionally include contact information for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, on-campus crisis centers, or other mental health support services

The law applies to new and replacement student identification cards issued in the first full school or academic year following the enactment date of July 22, 2025
