Authorizes county sheriffs to certify that law enforcement officers employed by their sheriff's departments meet the required criteria for law enforcement license renewal

Under current law, only the chief law enforcement officer of an employing unit can certify that an officer meets renewal criteria such as good moral character, completed training, and no disqualifying criminal convictions

Certification requirements include confirming the officer has no convictions for crimes, domestic violence, or offenses precluding firearm possession, and is not a member of groups advocating government overthrow or discrimination

Officers must also be certified as not having engaged in conduct demonstrating bias or discrimination that would undermine public confidence in law enforcement

The bill takes effect immediately upon enactment
