Expands the definition of "health care professional" in New Jersey's aggravated assault statute (N.J.S.A.2C:12-1) to include volunteers, supportive services staff, and employees working for health care professionals or at health care facilities

Aligns the aggravated assault statute's definition with the broader definition already established in the "Health Care Heroes Violence Prevention Act" (P.L.2023, c.48)

Removes the previous narrower definition that only covered licensed health care workers providing direct patient care or practicing a health care profession

Protects health care professionals, volunteers, supportive services staff, and employees while they are performing official duties, making assaults against them subject to enhanced aggravated assault penalties

Takes effect immediately upon enactment
